Malin Pretoria Andersons BIG day!

Sorry this is a little longer then i was planning.

Well it all started at 5:00AM Wednesday.( I was 10 days over due and had to get induced.) ! this is when we got up, we had to be in Lethbridge by 6:45. An early start to our LONG day.

Here we are on our way to the hospital.

We got to the hospital on time and it then hit us... where do we park. Maybe this is a question we should have asked before, or well. So we just parked in the 2 hour parking spot, only to learn we had to park on the hospital property and we'd be all good. There were TONS of spots open when we got there, but by the time we found this out there was no where to park!! so Josh had to leave every 2 hours for the first 6 hours till he finally found a spot. ANYWAYS. We got to the hospital and they started me on the gel.

Here I am looking mighty fine in my gown... i'm sure i'll regret these pictures later.

They put me on the Gel and 7:00 AM, i was ZERO cm dilated. ZERO!! Contractions were not near as bad as i was expecting from all the horror stories ive heard of getting induced. They were pretty much just really painful Braxton Hicks. So not bad at all.
So 6 hours later the doctor comes in to check me and i'm now 1 1/2 Cm. I guess thats better the 0. My doctor decided to break my water at this point. That was an interesting experience. and THAT is when the contractions started. at first just a little more painfull then on the gell... then about 15 min later they really sucked. An hour after my water broke not a thing. Still 1 1/2 cm. So they moved me to the delivery room.
While i was waiting for them to start me on the drip i spent my time in the shower. That was a life savor. i really wish i didnt have to go on the drip and could spend more time in there.
So at 2:30 they started me on the drip, and this is where it really started to suck. Contractions were nothing what i was expecting. strangely enough it was my back i was complaining the most about, i was not expecting that. Josh's job was to let me know when the contractions were starting to go down. After a couple hours of pain, i think it was around 5 i decided maybe id like to try some drugs. They gave me some morphine( dont think i spelt that right) that did nothing but make me high. felt the same amount of pain except inbetween contractions id drift in and out of sleep slash slur weird sentences to josh. it was an interesting experience. by 7 Pm... 12 hours after ive be induced... my doctor checked me. Surprise Surprise STILL! 1 1/2 cm. this was not the most exciting news and i got a lil bit upset. My contractions were getting more and more on top of each other and longer and more painful. they werent quite to the point where i had had enough. i'm sure i could have dont a couple more hours but the fact that i wasnt progressing wasnt helping. My nurse told me i wasnt going to progress any more if they didnt increase the drip but they couldnt increas the drip because it would put stress on the baby. There was someone else getting an epideral soon and if i wanted i could get one and then they would be able to increase the drip... so i got an epideral. I was wanting to try with out but at the same time i didnt know what it would be so i was open to having one if means be. so i got an epideral. which i'm kinda glad i did cuz when i got my C section i was able to be awake instead of having to be knocked out cuz it was an emergency C section.
By 10ish i was fully dilated!! about time. they waited close to an hour longer to help the baby drop by herself a little more. My doctor checked me a lil later and said the baby was so close she couldnt even get her second knuckle in. so i got to start pushing!!!! YAY!!!!! WELL people really need to fill first timers in on everything. who knew pushing could be SO exhausting. I pushed for 2 and 1/2 hours. by the end i was pretty much falling asleep inbetween pushes it was crazy!!! about an hour in i starting thinking something was wrong. My nurse kept bring in different people and pointing things out on the monitor and asking them questions that i couldnt hear. After the gazillienth time of taking my temperature she finally told me i had a fever. i kept asking if things were ok and she kept saying yes. and i kept telling her i did NOT want a C section. Pretty sure i told her this every 5 min. Josh told me after i kept repeating things and asking the same questions over and over again... i was pretty high at this point. dont think i'll ever get morphine again! anyways i kept saying i didnt want a C-section and she kept telling me i woudlnt have to and to keep pushing. at one point i'm pretty sure i remember telling her she wasnt very convincing, or maybe i just thought it. after an hour of pushing, she called for the doctor. but he was at home so it took him for ever to get there. so i just kept on pushing the whole time it took for him to get there. after 2 and 1/2 hours of pushing he finally gets there looks at me for all of 5 seconds pretty much and says i had to get a C-section. I had a high fever. the babies heart rate was dropping and mine was rising.
I burst in to hysterical tears and started begging him not to make me have a c section. I begged him to try suctioning or anything. but he said my pelvic was shaped weird and that the baby was just to big for me and it was to dangerous for me and the baby. It pretty much sucked i did not want a c section that was the one thing i did not want. i was open to an epideral, i was open to anything except a c section. Pretty much i didnt stop bawling till i was on the table getting ready to be sliced open. would have been a little nice if the nurse had prepared me and told me it might be a possibility that id have to have a c section!!!
Anyways we were in to big of a rush and josh was to busy trying to help me calm down to even think about bring a camera into the room. like i said earlier since i had an epideral all ready i was allowed to be awake. they just gave me more drugs to numb me more. that was weird. i coudlnt move at all. i remember thinking i have no idea how i'm going to get from this bed to the table. but they just lifted me. i dont really remember much after this. i was high exhausted and upset. i dont really remember josh being in the room i dont really know what went on. all i remember is i heard a cry and then i saw my little Malin on my chest with her little lip quivering. She was the most beautiful little girl ive ever seen. and once again i started crying. But i was so out of it and so exhausted i couldnt hold her so i asked her to take her off me which made me start crying again cuz i was so mad i had to get a c section and that i was so tired i coudlnt even hold my little girl. She was born at 2 32 AM on thursday i think.
Josh got to go with Malin and i had to go to recovery. Recovery sucked i hate those nurses they're so mean!! they kept giving me morphine even though i kept telling them i didnt want it. and they pressed on my stomach so hard!! i know they had to but they were not gentle or nice about anything!!!!!! after an hour they finally rolled me back to the room we would be staying in. Josh and Malin came in about 30 min later. it was a couple hours after that i could actually try and feed her i was just so tiered i was afraid i would drop her if i tried to hold her and my stomach hurt so bad. once again no one warned be about the recovery!!!! i thought id have the baby and feel great after! NOPE!
Well me and josh were just inlove!! she was so gorgeous and really a good baby. i think the longest she cried for at the hospital was 15 min. other then that shed cry then stop as soon as i held her or fed her. shes latched on great!! and was just really an amazing baby!!!

This is the first picture we got of her. It was prob around 5 hours after she was born.

So we arrived at the hospital a little before 7am Wednesday July 7th induced at 7AM and Malin was born Thursday July 8th at 2 32 AM. and left the hospital Sunday at noon.

All in all the labor part wasnt as bad as i was expecting. I had some dissapointments but shes safe and growing and thats all the matters. Wasnt quite the experience i was expecting but i Love Malin more then anything. Next time i will most deffiently try to have a vaginal birth and wont let my doctor let me go over due!!! i also think i'll try with out an epideral as well. as long as i'm progressing that is.

Also josh was absoultly amazing during the whole thing. I love him so much and coudlnt have done it with out him. I think it was just as hard on him as it was on me in a different way. he was there the whole time for me and did anything i asked for! I coudlnt imagine being married to anyone else. hes the best husband ever. He is amazing with Malin and it is so cute! he is one of the best dads out there and i can all ready tell Malin loves her daddy.

Here are some picture of our precious little girl.
